    Hi,

I've just tested VOSON+NodeXL and it is working fine, so there must be an issue with the particular network you are trying to import.  I'll contact you directly so we can sort it out.

One thing you should check is that you are trying to import a voson-analysis database.  As detailed here, if you try to import a voson database into NodeXL, it will fail with a (non-informative) error.

Okay, is it unavailable to import seed network coming from "automatically find important seed network" option?

With VOSON+NodeXL it is not possible to set the crawler to create a "seeds plus important" network - that can only be done via the web app (https://voson.uberlink.com).  However once a "seeds+important" network has been created (it will have "SeedsImpAN" appended to the dbase name), it will appear in the "Show Databases" window in VOSON+NodeXL and it will be able to be imported into NodeXL, just like any voson-analysis database.

So if you really want to use VOSON+NodeXL, you will need to first set up the crawl in the web app (i.e. create a voson database and check the "create seeds+important" checkbox), input the seeds, select "ready to crawl") and then once the crawl has completed, you can import the seeds+important network into NodeXL via VOSON+NodeXL.

We are presently reviewing the VOSON+NodeXL client (which is now very out of date, compared with the "flagship" VOSON web app), and an announcement will be made shortly.

    Regards,

    Rob

So far I analyzed hyperlinks like this.

First, I add seed sites with a "seeds+important" network option with VOSON. After that I import the seed+important network (the SeedsImpAN file) with VOSON+NodeXL, which worked very well.

But recently that doesn't work any more. Weird thing is that everyt AN file has the same size even it is seedAN or SeedsImpAN file. And I am not available to import these files with long error message. I am not sure what is the problem. I recently changed MSOffice from 2007 to 2013, uninstalled old NodeXL, and installed new NodeXL. That might problem or not...

Jon - The workflow you have used seems fine to me.  I will test this workflow myself, but in the meantime let's follow this up via email, because it may be issue specific to one of your databases - I wrote to the email for your account, if you can please respond to that.

Another VOSON user posted about problem with exporting graphml

Through investigating this problem, we discovered a bug with the VOSON code which I believe led to the problem you identified in this thread.  The fix to this bug was noted here.  So, you will need to re-create any voson-analysis databases created between 11 June 2015 and 24 June.  Apologies for the inconvenience, and please post again if any other problems.
