#Auspol: Researching Twitter activity of Australian advocacy groups and politicians
The increasing use of social media by political parties, advocacy groups and general citizens has provided a new environment for communication and interaction.
Researchers from the Australian National University are conducting a study relating to Australian advocacy and politicians in Twitter. Analytics datasets of over 15 million Twitter activities are the key element to understand the conversation surrounding Australian politicians.
The analytics datasets were provided by Uberlink via Twitter Analytics Service, and include networks formed by comprehensive Twitter activities of 700+ Australian advocacy groups and all federal politicians, over one year period. The tweets/retweets by other twitter users who either mentioned, reply or retweeted an advocacy or politician were also collected.
A demo dataset including Australian advocacy groups Twitter activity during 2015 is available via GitHub.
